Least Cost Routing and SIP Trunking

Least Cost Routing
and SIP Trunking

Least Cost Routing, or LCR is a well-established way of routing calls to a preferred provider, according to variable parameters such as time of day. The LCR function of EBCS allows flexible control of call routing with adjustable parameters that can be configured by the service provider. This allows the service provider to make the right routing choices to leverage optimum connections, while enabling and enhancing the services it offers to enterprise customers.

Overview

Enable SIP connectivity to remote office sites

Many enterprises use dedicated IP connections for voice services. EBCS allows SIP trunks to be added to the session border controller, which enables enterprises to capitalise on VoIP devices in their local branches in addition to mobile connections. The SIP trunks extend VoIP beyond the enterprise firewall and eliminate the need for IP gateways when connecting to the service provider.

Combine IP dedicated connectivity with advanced routing to enable new offers

The combination of SIP trunking with LCR and advanced routing allows service providers to offer a wider range of individual calling packages to specific customers. For example, they can create plans that take into account call volumes to overseas branches or to popular destinations. It also allows closer integration between existing PBX solutions and the advanced mobile capabilities enabled by EBCS.

Working with Gintel

Case Study: ice.net

Complete Hosted Telephony for Enterprises

ice.net (formally Network Norway) is the third mobile operator in Norway and launched services targeted towards the SME market in October 2007. ice.net chose Gintel’s solution as the platform for their flagship Mobile Office service offering.

Cost-effective with a solid business case

It was essential for ice.net that a solid business case could be created for the new service launch. The components selected for the Mobile Office solution had to be cost-effective from the outset in order to meet ice.net’s demanding conditions.

The Solution

Gintel was able to meet these requirements with its software and the complete suite of network gateways required for the installation.
