Gintel extends Easy Business Communications Suite with WebRTC capabilities

Integrating WebRTC to mobile and fixed telephony delivers new possibilities for enterprise and SME communication and customer interaction.

WebRTC has attracted considerable attention in recent months as it provides a means by which real-time voice, video and collaboration can be enabled between web browsers. This creates the possibility for a wide range of applications, such as click-to-call from a company website, shared sessions, backed up by sessions persistence across devices.

However, it’s important to consider how WebRTC platforms can communicate with non-WebRTC solutions. For example, how can a call from a WebRTC-enabled browser be delivered to a standard telephone line or to a mobile? And, how can sessions be initiated in the other direction – from mobiles and fixed-line phones to WebRTC end-points. After all, communication cannot – or should not - be restricted to individual communities of islands.

That’s why we have collaborated with our partners Dialogic and TeleStax to create a solution that enables bi-directional communication between WebRTC browsers and mobile and fixed devices. WebRTC is going to play a role in enterprise and SME communication. For example, a service provider might offer WebRTC access for a hosted unified communication solution, such as the Gintel Easy Business Suite – which would enable communication from within a browser – or even offer a dedicated HTML5 client for deployment on mobile devices. Such approaches will enrich communication and provide new possibilities to deliver functionality across platforms, networks and borders.

The demonstration shows how the emerging technology can be integrated into proven solutions, enabling enterprises to communicate more effectively with employees and with their customers.
