3GPP ETS 23.002.800 defines the IMS-SSF (IMS Service Switching Function) to provide compatibility between CAMEL service infrastructure and IMS SIP networks. Gintel recently had to implement this functionality to permit the Easy Virtual PaBX application to connect to CAMEL triggers in a legacy GSM network. By using the IM-SSF function, an operator can begin the migration of the service platform to an IMS-like architecture, but ensuring protection of current investments.

Light Reading recently reported that telcos are beginning to deploy next-generation services to “leverage their network infrastructures to make use of early IMS and SDP systems that are the hallmarks of next-generation networks” Gintel’s solutions are perfect for adding to this momentum.

Gintel is proud to announce that we will be speaking at the fourth annual SDP Summit, organised by Informa Telecoms and Media, to take place in Prague this coming September. We shall be making a joint presentation with Network Norway and discussing the challenges of deploying hosted services for SMEs.

FMC is a widely used term and has been subject to many different interpretations. Gintel’s Easy Virtual PaBX provides a ready-made fixed mobile convergence solution by allowing subscribers to treat mobile handsets as office extensions.

Gintel AS is a founder member of the Genesis Project, part of the Celtic initiative. Celtic is a Eureka cluster programme, which initiates and stimulates R&D projects on telecommunications systems and services in a broad context. Celtic brings together interested partners from industry, telcos, small/ medium sized enterprises, universities, and research institutes to set-up and run joint international projects.

In the past, when we have spoken to operators, they have generally already gone through a process of evaluation to determine their strategic direction and the services they want to deploy. Typically, this means that they have already considered our area of expertise – services for the hosted enterprise market – and decided that they want to invest in these capabilities; the conversation they then have with Gintel is about choosing the best solution or helping to define an RFx.
